Craft and attention to detail at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter

Based on the phenomenally popular book series by British author JK Rowling and the next film produced by Warner Bros., Osaka new attractions is Universal Studios' Wizarding World of Harry Potter's second theme park.

The original opened at Universal Studios Florida in 2010 - which last week launched Diagon Alley, the second area of ​​Wizarding World of Harry Potter - while Universal Studios Hollywood is said to get its own version in 2016.

Two stars of the film, Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy) and Evanna Lynch (Luna Lovegood) were on hand for the opening ceremony of Universal Studios Japan on July 15, Slytherin and Ravenclaw compulsory wearing their scarves.

Butterbeer and magic wand

The Osaka version of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter has a lot of the same attractions found in Orlando counterpart.

This includes the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, where visitors will find the signature "Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey" ride, a flight simulator that is filled with amazing special effects.

Getting there is half the fun as guests get to tour the castle, which is filled with some of the most famous space Hogwarts', such as space portrait with photos that talk, Dumbledore's office, Defence Against the Dark Arts classroom, the Gryffindor rooms and Needs.

Trying to compete with Disney?

Wizarding World of Harry Potter Universal Studios Japan cost 45000000000 yen ($ 442.2 million) to build.

Universal said it hopes to get the garden 5600000000000 yen ($ 55 billion) over 10 years.

According to a report in Japan's Asahi Shimbun earlier, the park's main competitor is the Tokyo Disney Resort, which attracted 31.3 million visitors in the fiscal year 2013.
